I would like to first say officer Ferguson was a true hero. Now I will tell of a true story about my granddaughter Melanie Mona Ridley. She is now 5 years old and special needs, nonverbal. In her short little life has been through so so much too much to bare. When I first met him was when he and another hero Sandra handed her to me, Melanie tested positive for drugs. Ferguson had told me he had seen drug babies before, but not like this. She had so much drugs pumped in her she should’ve died. I know God was watching over her. The state took her and eventually she was given back to the parents after they completed what was expected. And the last day I seen Ferguson ( another incident ) I was called to the house and words cannot describe how and what I seen. I am now fighting a difficult battle and pray that my husband and I may adopt her that way Melanie may have a good home and family.. He gave me his card. Looked me in the eye and told me if I ever needed help again to call. To his family my true deepest condolences. He will always be my hero.

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families in our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a law enforcement family member, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. In Christ Jesus, Your beloved Son, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."
