Katie, I am at loss for words. Having known you before we were deputies, as college students with the aspiration of becoming Law Enforcement officer one. To each of us making it a reality! The day I heard from Jen that you when you got hired at Pennington County I was proud that I would have another sister in blue. You will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers go out to your wife, son, and your family and friends. Rest easy... we have the watch from here.

What a strong officer. A scary thought for law enforcement that at any moment, a thug could surprise you with a gun.
Her family will never be the same. My thoughts and prayers.

Katie was such a bright star in this life. Her beautiful smile always made you feel good. She showed true love and companionship to her wonderful wife Courtney and for an all to short time a doting and caring mother. Words cannot say how much she will be missed. May all those who are hurting find peace and comfort. You all have my prayers and support ❤️

Kaitie was a brilliant light in a dark world. She was an great deputy but an even better person to those who knew her...and an absolutely amazing niece to me and my family. Her void is unfillable, yet her flame will shine forever. God bless you my dear, we love you so much and promise to take care of Court and Syler...Rest in peace dear Kaitie and be proud of the service you provided, well done good and faithful servant.

Rest in Peace sister and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your honor.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Kaitie, I remember talking to you when you were attending the LE academy. You were so excited about becoming an LE. And once you graduated you hit the ground running, and from what I’ve heard you were an outstanding officer. Willing to do what was asked of you and never complaining. You left this world way too soon. Your friends in SoDak remember you fondly and will never forget your smile. Our hearts are heavy with grief for your family and all who loved you. Rest in peace, friend.
