I want to take this moment to thank you for your honorable service and sacrifice, sir. In your line of work, it is always dangerous and without people like you, our world would not be safe. It is truly heartbreaking that you had to leave your community, and above all, your family behind. Please know that your presence and actions have truly made a difference in the community and that your courage and sacrifice will not have been in vain. Every law enforcement death is tragic but some hit harder than others. Maybe it's Josh's service as a soldier, or his years of service as a deputy or his professional and athletic appearance. Maybe its the picture with his K-9 or the award he got, clear indicators that he was a cop's cop. Maybe its the fact he followed in his father's career footsteps. Maybe its we've lost another good man.

To the family and co-workers of Deputy Josh Owen, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of a good cop. May you be consoled knowing that Josh served his nation and community with honor.

And to Josh's father, stay strong knowing the Blue Brotherhood is behind you. You are not in this alone. Josh will not be forgotten.

I wish I had never heard of Josh Owen.

Josh Owen sounds like a great guy. I wish I could have met him. He would have been a wonderful colleague, friend, or neighbor.

But I wish I had never heard of Josh Owen.

Never hearing his name would mean that Rylan still had his dad, Shannon still had her husband, and Josh's family, department, and community still had him in their lives.
