Lord God of unfailing love, to those families in our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a law enforcement family member, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. In Christ Jesus, Your beloved Son, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

This is so hard, the hardest I have ever had to deal with. My world, heart, and soul is shattered.
I am broken, emotionally, mentally and physically. Nick never went more than a couple of hours without calling or texting me, just because. "I just wanted to hear your voice" "What you're doing for lunch?" "How's your day?" "I miss you" "I love you", so many words spoken that I will never hear from him again. We actually spoke less than an hour from his last breath. He was always worried about us. I have watched our final goodbye/kiss/love you/be careful over and over on the doorbell cam. One sided conversations are all I now have to resort to and they are hard, but I just can't go on with my day, without trying, so many tears, and screams, and nothing changes. I spent half of my life with him by my side, being my protector, provider, soul mate, best friend, the list goes on. I know he was a friend to many and never turned his back to help, he would have given the shirt off of his back, gift cards for vacations, talks, and so much more and I loved that about him, but he was ours first and foremost. The grief brings me to my knees and I pray, I wake up with my heart racing, shaking, realizing he really is gone and all I want to do is go back to sleep. There's just no words to describe it. Please keep our kids in your prayers. They are being strong and so worried about me, but my momma heart knows better.
His Wife forever and always.

I don't like writing these kinds of poems, I have been fighting this all week and I have cried every night since I heard of your loss thinking of your family and your dedication. I pray I do your family justice and you as well in my way as I pay my respect with my gift from God.
For you Pepper,
Thank you for your service and I am so sorry to here about what happened, your loss
It seems what has become my biggest fight, being road safety, has become your cross
You didn't have to be there, you could have been at home instead of fighting the dark
But that wasn't your style, you would always go that extra mile, to do beyond your part
The morning after I heard, my youngest son and I driving to work, red's the light
Sits an officer on a tailgate, his head down, his feelings they weren't so bright
I said thank you for your service, and I'm sorry for your loss, I spoke of you
It touched his heart he needed a lift, it was easy to see that his sorrow was blue
I spoke to another officer, she was on shift that night she said
You made such an impact on others, in all the memorials I've read
But talking to these officers I can really feel their hearts, I see how much they care
I pray God gives them the strength to carry this burden they bare
Dear Heavenly Father, give strength Father to Christie, help her when she feels all alone
Let her feel Nick God, let his presence always be near her and make her strong
Give her peace at night and Patience, Gracie, and Nicholas Jr. to sleep well
Father help Nicholas Jr stand tall on the night when high school rings it's last bell
Comfort this family please, let them feel your love as you take an angel home
Give them the feelings that Heaven's love, can be felt in every room
May they be proud of such a hero, a daddy, a husband, a brother, nephew, cousin, a grand and son
Father please heal this void left in all the loved ones and friends, for who he is and all he's done
To hear it from your boss, he had such high praise for you , always working it didn't matter a holiday
Dedicated and a smart thinker and hard driven, you weren't the normal, you was a regular Joe Friday
No one had a bad word to say about you, that shows your quality as a man
It's not always how you walk, it has to start in how you stand
Thank you sir once again for your service, I pray I've done you well with these words of choice
I am impressed with you and your career, your hard work and dedication is your voice
I had to write my respect for you it's the least I can do this poem, my letter
All I can say Nick without ever meeting you my friend, I have tasted the salt of my tears for you Pepper
