To those I Love and Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, Let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I traveled alone.
So grieve a while for if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart,
I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll
Hear all of my love around you soft and clear
And when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and say,
"Welcome Home"

We grew up together in NY, he was more like a brother to me. I think of him every day of my life, and I miss more than anything on this earth, and wish he were here. Sammy's birthday is on the 4th of July, so the flags in my garden have more meaning. 24 years have gone by, and it seems like yesterday. The feeling. never goes away. Love you Sam!!

I worked with P.O. Calabrese we all called him Sammy. We both changed in the same locker row. The day he was killed I worked the day shift and he was working a 4 to 12. I was waiting for the D train to go home and Sammy and I had a conversation on the s/b platform. The next day when I got up to work days I learned of his passing. Sammy loved his daughter very much and talked about her often GOD BLESS YOU SAMMY.

The policeman stood and faced his God,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining
just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?
The policeman squared his shoulders and said.
"No I guess I ain't, because those of us who carry a badge can't always be a Saint."
I've had to work most Sundays and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I was violent, because the streets were tough.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...
I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help
though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around, except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand,
I never expected, or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand"
There was a silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman.
You've borne you're burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets.
You've done your time in Hell"

Sammy,
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, and how proud you made everyone in the family. Your spirit lives on in our hearts and minds. And now, as I embark on a career in law enforcement, I hope to someday be as good a cop as you were.
You are loved and missed.....
Cousin Patty Boy.
