Reflections for Police Officer Neil Eugene Porter
Proud to have called Neil a friend. We had occasions to ride our Harleys together with other coppers from various PD's for Police week and meetup in D.C. with others. For Police week. I can't express just how much of a genuinely likeable guy Neil really was. He had many acquaintances but if he called you a friend, he meant it. Neil went the extra mile for all his friends. As I recall when we went to pick up another copper who went down on his H.D. in D.C. Neil commandeered an suv while in d.c and ran to our buddy's aid. 50 miles south of D.C. Much to our relief our buddy was OK with a few scratches. Bike was totaled. Neil made the comment "there goes the luckiest man I know". He truly cared about his friends. Neil rode another copper on the back of his own Road King, when that copper's bike broke down, again in D.C on another trip to Police week. No return on either favor was ever expected. I was sad to hear Neil was showing signs of this dreaded illness but was relieved to know his suffering was over. His new chapter in life had just begun after retirement and it came to an abrupt end. Your riding buddies will forever miss you Neil. Wish you could have enjoyed your new found happiness for a while longer. Godspeed 'PORTS'. They broke the mold when they made you. Love ya' brother !!

Heavenly Father, I am grateful for the lives and sacrifices of all America’s Peace Officers. They died serving us. Help us never forget. Help us celebrate their lives and honor their sacrifices. Be with the families of these fallen peace officers. Comfort them and give them Your strength and peace. Guide us as we seek to take care of the families of these fallen heroes. May we care for them with integrity. In commemorating the deaths of these fallen heroes, help us also to remember that death is not the end. Death does not have the final say, but is simply the transition from this earthly life to the heavenly life yet to come. This assurance was guaranteed to all believers upon the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We look forward to that life to come with joy and anticipation. Thank You, Lord God, for hearing this prayer. In the mighty and holy name of Christ Jesus, Your dear Son, I pray. Amen.
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]
