Heavenly Father, I pray for the families of all America’s Peace Officers who have fallen in the Line-of-Duty and we thank You for their sacrifices. Bless the lives of their families so they might find healing. Help their departments support their families. Even though their deaths might have been senseless, make something good come out of these situations so that the departments and jurisdictions in which they lived and worked might be stronger because of their lives and their deaths. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.
"And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family, and the Cook County Sheriff's Office. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
Abraham Lincoln
