Reflections for Police Officer Edward R. Byrne
The day of your assasination will be in my mind forever. Your fellow Officers and I from the 103 at that time still smile when we remember what a wonderful, yet dangerous place the 103rd was to work. It sounds odd to say someplace so dangerous was so much great still; it was. We were brothers & sisters. Laughing and Enforcing; thinking on our feet and making sure we all went home every night. We all worked so hard to find your killers and we will never forget Pete Pistone and Richie Sica for their successful arrest and eventual conviction of all the mutts involved.
I wish I got to know you better and will never forget how we all, as a command came together, closer yet still in the quest to make sure you didn't die in vain. Crime dropped to an almost scary level while LEO from all levels of State and Federal Goverments came down on the 103rd. The President himself (Bush 41) talked about you and your service to NY.
Your death was profound, your memory is secure!
GOD Bless you and keep you!

I had the honor of graduating the both the NYPD and Transit Police Academies with Eddie, he was an excellent Police Officer with a bright future ahead of him. Unfortunately it was cut short. He will be greatly missed by us all.
My heartfelt sympathies go out to his parents and loved ones. May he rest in peace.
Fraternally yours
