Uncle Ruben, I still think of you often. I remember the last time I saw you and the phone call that broke the hearts of the Byrd clan. I remember the send off and the respect your fellow officer shown. I brag on you often and I'm so proud of you and the Nashville Police department. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 50th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
