The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

It is most difficult to lose a brother or sister in Law Enforcement. It is harder to deal with, when the person is a co-worker. Matthew Fishman was a servant of man and his creator, God. He was a Christian and set the example by his life style. It was an honor to know Matthew and to work with him.
Rest in peace our brother. You have earned your heavenly rewards. Saluting you with a slow sign of respect.

My family has close ties to Wayne County and the Sheriff’s Department. I’d like to share these words of comfort sent to members of my Church when we face times such as these…”O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day a brother. We thank you for giving Matthew to his family and friends, to know and to love as a companion on their earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console those who mourn. Give them faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence they may continue our course on earth, until, by your call, they are reunited with those who have gone before; through Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Sergeant Fishman,
This hits home because you left this world on my birthday. A day of celebration? for me? a day of un speakable grief for you and your family. SO i join you in memoriam, in sorrow, because every human life is precious, especially the life of a POLICE OFFICER. You are the SOLDIERS that protect all families when they are tucked in bed at 0200 hours in the morning, enduring all weather conditions, and placing your lives in harms way. The average citizen has NO IDEA what it entails, or what precautionary steps that must be taken when walking into a volatile or potentially dangerous situation. IF they did, they would appreciate you so much more, but even 'appreciation' is not an ample word for your duties. Let us all pray now for you now entering your new duty before the greatest Captain in the universe. No more tears, no more pain, except for the loved-ones you leave behind. Let them all know, oh Almighty God, that he is watching over them, with them in spirit.
