Reflections for First Lieutenant August John Essman
Lt. John Essman was my maternal grandfather. My grandmother and Lt. Essman were divorced when my mother was a young girl which is why there are no daughters listed as survivors.
We had the general story of his death, but not the particulars. Thank you so much to this site for allowing my brothers and me to get a full understanding of the tragedy for all involved.
