This was devastating news. Tony always had a smile on his face, and clearly a determination to do the right thing. With 29 years of service he was still working street patrol. Everyone should say a prayer for Tony and his family. We also must pray for all the men and women out there working in a very difficult environment. RIP, Tony.

Lt. Jim Keenan (Ret.)

Tony, I have spent the last several days trying to figure out what to say. When I heard it was you my heart dropped and I was shocked. Memories of you at the Clinton Section while I was there came rushing back. Memories of you being with the Tactical Unit and seeing you at the various Funerals and our C.O.P.S. Candlelight Memorial Vigil came rushing back. You always made me laugh and always had a smile when you saw me. Just know that you, your Family, coworkers and all who love you will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Officer Mazurkiewicz, your brutal ambush murder is so hard to even imagine in our country and yet here we are. I am so very sorry for you and your family. I can see in your photo that you were a highly decorated Police Officer and how proud you were to wear your uniform. As an upstate New Yorker that has since moved to the Carolinas this hits hard. I know how genuine, tough and hardy my fellow New Yorkers are. A proud group of people who withstand so much up there in the frozen north. Rest easy my brother, you have earned it. My condolences to your family. We thank you for having given the world such a man.
