Reflections for Trooper First Class Donald Case Brackett

Trooper Brackett,
On today, the 4th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the USMC. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry to learn of the grievous loss of Trooper Brackett when he died in the line of duty . To the Brackett family, fellow troopers, and all who call Donald beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support. I hope that you continue to receive that same kind of support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Trooper Brackett gave to his community and the residents of Pennsylvania and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on May 18, 2019. My son was also your brother in green so I bid you Semper Fi.

Heavenly Father, You are Compassionate and Merciful. None of our nation’s law enforcement officers leave home without the fear of not returning at the end of their watch. It is a fear that is lived daily. Unfortunately, the worst does sometimes come to pass, and lives are left shattered. Lord God, bless and keep the hearts and souls of those who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. Wipe away the tears from their eyes. Soothe their pain and bind up their emotional wounds through the wounds of Your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. In His name, I pray. Amen.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 ESV]
