Reflections for Sergeant Jose Ramon Rivera
Miss you each and every day Sgt. You set the example for what I look for in a leader. I’ll never forget how much you believed in me. You continue to motivate me to prove you right and be the best I can be in this profession. Till Valhalla.

SGT Joe Rivera was one of those guys who would literally exactly what his supervisor told him to do. He was hilarious, but he was also very much rule-driven. An honor to work with on the line and even more so as we spent hours on the road together as supervisors.
Joe was the guy you would want standing next to you when the bad guy was deciding whether or not they wanted to fight.
Joe was the guy you would want standing next to you when it was time to figure out what's for dinner.
Joe was the guy you would want standing next to you when you had a bad day and needed to talk.
You were an awesome guy, Joe. I can't believe it's been two years already. Your name's on that wall now, brother. Always to be remembered for generations to come. Rest easy, friend

Most merciful God, You hold each of us dear to Your heart. Hold all those law enforcement officers and their families, who are afflicted or affected by the COVID-19 Virus, in Your loving arms and tenderly draw them into Your life, together with all others who are living with the COVID-19 Virus. Assure them that they are not alone, and give them courage and faith for all that is to come. Strengthen those who care for them and treat them, and guide those who do research. Forgive those who have judged harshly, and enlighten those who live in prejudice or fear. Nourish those who have lost sight of You, and heal the spirits of those who are broken. We pray this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, who suffered and died, and then rose from the dead to lead us into new life, now and forever. In Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen.
