On this 100th anniversary of the death of Webster Groves, MO patrolman Jacob Busch, I reflect and honor him. To date Jake is the sole officer killed in the line of duty in the history of the Webster Groves Police Department.
Be it known, the Police Department and City of Webster Groves is honoring Jake by installing a memorial bench behind the police department. Special memorial police badges bearing Jacob Busch’s name are authorized by the Chief of Police to be worn by all officers voluntarily for one year. Finally, a ceremony will be held at the Webster Groves City Hall to honor Jake on March 21, 2023. At that time, his original badge will be returned to the Webster Groves Police Department for them to keep and care for in perpetuity.

Officer Jacob Busch was my grandfather. My dad was Charles K. Busch, the 4th child of Jacob and Rose. I wish I could've known him. I've never heard anything but very complimentary stories about him. Thanks very much for your service. I will see you someday in the future!
