Reflections for Detective Harry O. D'Onofrio
I miss and love you so much Uncle Harry. Not a day goes by I don’t think of you, your laughter, jokes, and your overall amazing personality. I wouldn’t be in the profession I’m in today if it wasn’t for you, Patrick and Brian. I wish you could have met my two beautiful boys. My father misses you more than you could ever know. Until we meet again, I love you.

We miss you so much , Dad. Your princesses will know so much about you, even though Maya never met you, and Ava only knew you for a few short months. You’ve left your family, but we know you’re still here. Till we meet again.
PS- Patrick’s keeping the NYPD in check, and we’re both keeping the WSFD in check. Just as you taught us.

I only recently became aware of the death of my former co-worker. Harry and I worked together at Times Square Stores in the late 1970s before I found myself moving to Calif. Harry was always a pleasure to be around and something of a prankster (he used to put dental disclosing tablets in a candy bag and leave them where unsuspecting co-workers would mistake them for red-hots. They would then have red teeth for the better part of the day). Rest In Peace my friend, you will always be remembered fondly.

Miss you Dad. I know you’re looking down on us everyday. Being a 3rd generation NYPD cop and having the opportunity to continue the family legacy means the world to me.

Lord Jesus, the endeavors of law enforcement officers are often thankless. They must deal daily with the most wicked and volatile members of society. Sometimes, this interaction even costs them their lives. For this example, we praise and thank You. For like You, they are often mocked and scorned. Yet, even for their enemies, they laid down their lives. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.
