Reflections for Patrol Officer David Alan Marshall

Thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts. David and I were married for 34 years. My heart was broken when he passed away. David loved his work as a police officer and promoted up to Sgt. he also loved being in the military. God gave him a serving heart and I am grateful for the time we had together. My heart will always belong to him.

My favorite years with the Fort Worth PD were when we served together as co-sergeants in patrol and the Gang Unit. We became the best of friends, and I considered Dave my brother. Dave was also one of my black belts in karate; his wife Kathy and kids Steve and Tori are brown belts. Dave's love for his family was absolute. He also loved the officers on his teams. Dave and I had some close calls; he once nearly drowned in an abandoned granary where he was sucked under like quicksand and barely made it out alive. What I miss the most is his joyful sense of comedy. He reminded me of Red Skelton and especially Bill Murray. Dave was mistaken for Bill Murray by casino employees when he last went to Los Vegas with his family. I thank our God for having Dave in my life, and I will forever have a place for Dave and his family in my heart. Philippians 3:1 Richard Morris

Officer Marshall,
On today, the 1st anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but also when you served with the U.S. Army during the 1991 Gulf War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Officer Marshall, It's always sad and difficult when a Law Enforcement Officer's life is taken but, I find it especially sad when a member of our academic law enforcement community loses his/her life.

Brother, as long as those who love you keep you in their hearts and minds, you will never truly be gone from them. God Bless you, and may your eternal rest be ever peaceful.

Most merciful God, You hold each of us dear to Your heart. Hold all those law enforcement officers and their families, who are afflicted or affected by the COVID-19 Virus, in Your loving arms and tenderly draw them into Your life, together with all others who are living with the COVID-19 Virus. Assure them that they are not alone, and give them courage and faith for all that is to come. Strengthen those who care for them and treat them, and guide those who do research. Forgive those who have judged harshly, and enlighten those who live in prejudice or fear. Nourish those who have lost sight of You, and heal the spirits of those who are broken. We pray this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, who suffered and died, and then rose from the dead to lead us into new life, now and forever. In Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen.
