Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Theron Anthony Burnham

Uncle Theron,
I never got the chance to meet you, but your memory has not been forgotten in our family. My mother and aunts talked about you all the time when I was growing up...and so did my granddad. They told me what a wonderful and happy person you were. You also worked with my dad at Winter Haven many years ago, and he has told me to never let thoughts of you fade. When I joined the academy I met many people who remembered you and they all said how wonderful you were. I am now a police officer because of you, Eddie J., and my dad. I know one day I will also get the chance to meet you and I will tell you how much of an influence you have been on my life. Until then.....
(oh yeah...and I have your dimples)

Deputy A. Burnham,
I never met you but I did work with your brother who thinks the world of you as well as for the rest of our agency. I see your picture on the wall at the main building and only wish that your tour of duty that evening ended in your driveway.
Myself, along with the rest of your brothers and sisters at the P.C.S.O. appreciate you and your dedicated response to a call that night which cost you the final moments of your life. Rest easy my brother and know you will always be loved and mentioned at briefing...

T.A., just a note to say thank you for your service to your agency and your community. You are the reason I chose law enforcement as a career so long ago. I think of you every time I pass that spot on Drane Field Rd. and in fact I was there exactly ten years later to the minute that you lost your life there. The area has grown a lot since 1981 but that can't lessen the impact of the place and the event that helped change my life for the better. Rest in peace, sir, and GOD bless you and your family. Until we see you again ...
