Rest in peace and always know that your service and sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement.

Hi Dear John, It is amazing how many people have written since you passed over the threshhold. Mum And Dad, your Aunty Erna and Uncle Albert, were so proud of you and your work you had chosen to follow. They showed all their pictures of you, especialyl to my son Benny, who was totally enthralled. They brought him a policeman's cap and shirt from you all in the US. And He loved to play policeman and wanted to become one, just ike his great cousin. We were devastated at the bad news. Mum and Dad could not believe it. I never met you or your family, except your Dad, Uncle Norman. He and my Dad shared so many mannerisms and expressions even after so many years apart. It was uncanny. It's Family, Mum and Dad used to keep your side of the family over the Atlantic alive to us with their films and stories. They loved to visit yous. Mum and Dad have now also passed over and I would like to believe you are all still connected. The Reeve Clan so to speak, big hearted people. It's hackney but they say blood is thicker than water. Our Nanny, your Dad's Mum once said to me: A Mum's apron strings are made of elastic. Your children may wander the world over but you always remain connected. We were talking about your Dad. You were aleas very alive for me and little Ben, then. I miss you very much this day for a reason I cannot explain and cannot believe how much time has passed and how many of the Reeve Clan are now up there with you. Have a big family hug. We remember you well.

Thinking of you today. Wishing you were here to be a part of our great family. Your memory lives on and Steven & I talk about you all the time. Your pictures line the hallway and our kids ask about you as if you have just gone away for a visit, even though they have never known you. One day we will all be together again. Miss you more than words,

For some reason today I thought of you. You were a fantastic friend, and are missed by so many. I know that you are in a much better place than we are, and will see you one day soon. I miss you my friend, our talks and your infectious smile.

It has been almost 19 years since the day GOD decided to give you a signal C and call you to serve & protect the streets of HEAVEN. I remember seeing that big smile every monday when we would have our meetings at West Precinct or hear you laugh while detailed to Beale Street Substation. You were one of the coolest officers that I ever met and you are trully missed.
Gone from our presense but not from our hearts.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 18th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

John,
You are in our thoughts everyday. It is so numbing to think that it has been over 16 years since we saw that smiling face. I know that you and Dad are watching over us. Take care brother and know that you are missed more than words can say.

It is has been 15 years since you died. As your sister says the pain does decrease but the hurt never goes away. You always think of what "should have been" especially in one so young.
He is not forgotten, his memory will live on forever. You will remember the good things that he accomplish. I believe one of the biggest hurts is always wanting to know what "should have been."
