Officer French, I did not know you, but was your fellow brother in blue. I want to thank you for your dedicated service. You paid the ultimate sacrifice for your city and will never be forgotten. There is no greater sacrifice then giving your life for the City you protected. You are a hero. To the family of Officer French and the officers of the CPD may I express my deep sorrow for your loss.

The most startling words an officer can hear over the air are: "Officer Down!"

The risk and dedication are great as officers perform their duties knowing a time may come when they may have to pay the ultimate sacrifice. Yet they continue to serve.

Officer French will be honored and remembered for her willingness to protect and serve the people of Chicago no matter the cost.

May the Lord comfort you her family and fellow officers during this time of sorrow and loss.
