Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Oscar Burkhart
Well, granddaddy, you were gone long before I was ever born. I am the youngest son of your little girl Victoria Rose. Its said that I look a lot like you. If I ever had a wish to be made true, it would have been to know who you were. R.I.P Grandaddy Burkhart.

I was told that my family was from Kentucky, but I was told that I was the only Burkhart to ever be in law enforcement. After seeing your picture, I can see that we are related. You look just like my grandpa and his brothers. God bless you, I can see that I am following in the foot steps of a hero.

I also was born on the day you died. I guess it took at least 2 of us to replace such a wonderful Officer such as yourself. I hope you are resting comfortably and are proud of the way we have carried on in your honor. Thank You my Brother.

It is said that EVIL flourishes when good men do nothing.
To the family of this brave officer who gave all so that others might live, I extend my deepest sympathy and gratitude for your continued sacrifice.
To those of us who were left behind who still wear the badge, the mission continues... tomorrow is another Tour Of Duty... May God comfort you with the knowledge that you DO make a differance.
