I will never forget the sacrifice Officer Talley made in the line of duty to protect his community. To see the outpouring of support for him gives me hope and reminds me why I, along with all officers, do this career.

To the family and friends of Officer Eric Talley - As the parents of a Police Officer, mine and my wife's hearts break a little more every day when we see the disdain that so many have for these fine individuals who put their lives on the line for us every single time they go to work. And when that all too often day comes when one makes the ultimate sacrifice the pain becomes almost too much to deal with. Although it is little consolation, those times also remind us of what true heroes these men and women are. Please know that we hold you close in our hearts and thoughts as you deal with the loss of your beloved hero.

My prayers are with you, your family, and your fellow officers. I thank you for your service. It will never be forgotten. No words will take away the hurt you are feeling, but know that you are not alone.

I found this poem after my husband died and I hope it will give you some solace. It is called :
In Memory
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A piece of us went with you, the day God took you home. If tears could build a stairway, and heartaches make a lane, we'd walk our way to heaven and bring you back again. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill.
