Your brother, Bill, was married to my grandmother's sister, Beulah. My mother loved her Uncle Bill very much. While researching my family on Ancestry.com I discovered you. Your story touched my heart. I hope that you are at peace now and I hope that your killer/killers never know that peace, in their lives and in their deaths. I am not what most would call Law Enforcement, I am a Security Officer and have been for over 18 years, I have the utmost respect for you and all Law Enforcement and Military. Those who put their lives on the line for others deserve nothing less.

Ptlm. Birchfield,
I was born the day you were killed and I am sure the person who murdered you paid the price upon his death. It is my prayer that you were finally able to rest in peace. Thank you for watching out for those of us who became officers after your passing including my father (1957 to 1980), my son (2005-still serving) and myself (1972 to 2009). Thank you for your service.

Patrolman Birchfield - Three weeks ago, I stood in the State Assembly chambers when your name was one of almost 250 read off during a motion regarding next month's Police Memorial Week. You are not forgotten.

Thank you for you service to the people of Colorado Springs and the state of Colorado. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.

Patrolman Birchfield. You will always be in our thoughts and hearts. An officer never falls in the line of duty without leaving a whole in the heart of those who surrounded him. Some day we will find who is responsible for your death.
Rest in peace. Thank you for your sacrifice.
