Reflections for Correctional Deputy Jeremy Devaughn Smith
Correctional Deputy Smith,
On today, the 4th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Shelby County. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer.

Although I never met you, you were a Blue Brother. This past week I had the honor of representing you, your sacrifice, and your families sacrifice. I wore a Band Of Honor in your honor and memory during the Law Enforcement United Bike Ride. Rest easy Brother and God Bless you and your family.
If anyone from Jeremy’s family reads this, please reach out to my PD and leave your number. I’d like to send you the Band Of Honor for you to have. I’m with the Lower Township Police in Cape May County, New Jersey. The number is 609-886-2711.

Praying for your family, friends, colleagues, and agency during this very difficult time for them and all of us. Thank you for your service! We shall remember you with pride and admiration always! May God Bless the Blue!
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God. [Matthew 5:9];
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4], and;
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13]
Depart in peace, Brother-in-Blue; in the name of God the Father who created you; in the name of Christ Jesus who redeemed you; in the name of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you. May you rest in peace and dwell forever with the Lord. Amen.
