Dear Family of Officer Lyday,

It is with heartfelt sorrow that I send you my condolences over the loss of Officer Nate. Every time I read of another law enforcement officer being killed in the line of duty, I get an empty feeling in my stomach.

Over my career, I have responded to the scene of a fellow officer who was killed by gunfire and I have attended too many fallen officer funerals. We all experience a loss when an incident like Nate's death occurs.

He is a hero for serving his city by putting himself in harms way. May his memory last in perpetuity.

I pray for you that the Lord will give you His special peace and comfort as you go through this horrific time of sorrow and loss.

California Highway Patrol (Retired)

From a former brother to another... As well as an Ogden born (McKay-Dee Hospital, 1978, yes I am old) citizen of Utah, Police Officer Nathan Lyday, May you forever Rest In Peace in the house of our Heavenly Father.

May the State of Utah and the Law Enforcement Community across the United States of America, and may the Lyday Family and the City of Ogden Police Department Family as well, be able to grieve and mourn the loss of a fine young friend, co-worker, Son, Brother, Cousin, Nephew, Grandchild. May you all, as well, be able to look past this moment in time, and be able to carry the duties and responsibilities of Citizen Protectors, and citizens of the community in the City of Ogden, of the United States of America, and citizens of the world. The last 15 Months, Officer Nathan Lyday gave of his talents and his respect for a community and the people of Ogden City, Utah. Now it is a time to reflect and to show the same. May the Ogden Police Department Brotherhood and Sisterhood be able to continue to protecting the Citizens of the Largest City in Weber County and go forward with somberness in heart, remembering always, but never faltering.

These hands may one day save your life. Please RESPECT them. From a former Brother in Blue, Jeremy Young

Deepest sympathies to The Lyday families and his Brothers & Sisters in Arms. It’s a sad day for all Law Enforcement Officers, oldies & new, far & wide. Especially those of us that have lost one to the evils of this world. May God place a hedge of protection around all of our First Responders. John 3:16
