Reflections for Police Officer Nathan James Lyday

Senseless killing of a 24 yr old police officer. Prime of his life. Nobody hears about this with all the stuff going on but I just want to say that Nate and all like him are appreciated more than ever in this crazy world. RIP

I am a civilian. I support our police. They get no appreciation in these days. I want to financially help his wife.

Officer Lyday, only God would know why you were taken out of this world just when your life is about to begin. Maybe He needs more good people like you to help Him in His mission of peace. Your reward in heaven will be abundant. May He immerse you and your loved ones in His Divine Mercy. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

So sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family, friend, and fellow officers.
The following is a poem I wrote as a tribute:

The Badge

John 15:13 King James Version (KJV) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends, (others).
The first responders wear a mask;
"Why?" Some may ask.
Because we believe in humanity.
Each of us, who laid our left hands
Upon the Bible, took an oath,
To protect and serve, this was
Our solemn troth.
Not only do Law-Enforcement,
Firefighters, and EMT's wear these
Badges of valor, but all whose
Reflections shine:
These are the Doctor's, Nurses,
PCT's, our Health Care providers,
Techs, Social Workers,
On down the line.
All of these precious lives do matter.

We knew, when we strapped
On our belts, we might not
Come home after our shift;
Each day could have been our last.
We are the role-models
And must pass on the eternal torch
Of self-sacrifice to our next generation.
We have quieted the child with tears;
We've sat with those those whose spirits
Needed a lift; we've cried with those who've
Suffered loss so they did not
Have to alone bare their heavy cross.
Love is an amazing gift.

We've been called by every name
Known to man;
Talked down those who've sought to maim
Whenever and whomever they can.
We've witnessed atrocities
Vengeful hearts,
Casting lots, and devising evil plots.
Yes, we lay down our lives everyday
To protect and serve.
We are the hero's ordained by God
Here on earth.
Say a little prayer for us,
And tell us you love us before
We walk out that door.
