I grew up in Overland Park, KS not far from the incident location. I spent the majority of my law enforcement career in the Kansas City metro area. While it's always sad and difficult to hear about every brother & sister in blue killed in the line of duty, this one really hits close to home and was especially hard to hear about. Overland Park is a very nice community, with not a lot of serious crime, and the OPPD has not had an officer killed in the line of duty since 1985.
It is so sad he leaves behind a wife and young daughter. I am truly sorry for your loss and my deepest condolences go out to you. My condolences also go out to the rest of the Mosher family and the OPPD officers during this very difficult time. Stay strong.
Officer Mosher, rest in peace my brother in blue and thank you for your dedicated service.

Officer Mosher, you were a phenomenal voice for the officers in your FOP Lodge. You truly had their interests in everything you did with the FOP. I met you during FOP functions but never had the opportunity to work with you in our normal day to day gigs. My thoughts are with your family and your agency during this difficult time.

Mike was the kind of cop every patrolman wants to work with. You knew he had your back and was always willing to lend a listening ear either car to car or in the station. He was a leader to younger officers and a man of tenacity. Mike, while I only worked with you for two years, you always took time to shoot the breeze and make sure things were going well. I know OPPD will never forget your service and sacrifice.

You were an amazing police officer and an even more amazing friend to everyone around you. You were always passionate about your job and always stayed patient. Like the Chief said, all you wanted to do was be a cop and you were damn good at it. You died holding the thin blue line against evil and now you’ve moved onto a better place. Your time was to soon and many people still need you to be here but some things are out of our control. Rest easy brother.
