Reflections for Detective Charles James Humphry
Lord Jesus, as we watch our nation’s brave law enforcement officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the law enforcement officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

I was your last partner in the Robbery Squad before your retirement. We kept in touch even after you moved out of state. I miss the phone calls and the laughs (chuckles) my friend. God bless!!!

We sat next to each other through the whole academy class, 87-45. What a fun time we had everyday. We were young and invincible. When we left the academy, we both went in different directions but once in a while we would see each other. You were a fun, energetic, interesting and great cop. The people of NY are better off because of you. Ray loved working with you and cherished your friendship greatly. Until we meet again.......

One of the many amazing men and women who gave so selflessly and heroically that day and the many days that followed. Thank you for your service and please know that your sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren.
