Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Sheldon Gordon Whiteman
The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and and saves those crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16 & 17

The loss of such an honorable man like Sheldon is overwhelming. He was a friend to all with a beautiful soul. I will miss his wide smile and spunky attitude. His love for law enforcement was second to the love he had for his wife and family. God bless you, Sheldon.

I patrolled those GA Highways for a few years. It was very easy to lose control by misjudging the width. I'm sorry that Deputy Whiteman lost his life doing his dangerous job in this way.
May God provide peace and comfort to the family, Department, and the community that they served.
