Reflections for Sergeant Joshua Eli Voth
A corrections officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Colorado Department of Corrections. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!

Heavenly Father, You are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Sergeant Joshua Voth, of the Colorado Department of Corrections, was suddenly and violently taken from us on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. He was killed in the Line-of-Duty when a boiler at the Freemont Correctional Facility in Canon City exploded. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, friends, and colleagues by the power and protection of the Cross. We ask this through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can go to the Father except by way of the Son. Amen.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 CSB]
“And he said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 CSB]

My deepest condolences to Sergeant Voth's family and all of his brothers and sisters of the badge. I pray that God will bring you peace and comfort in this great time of need.
I have worked in Corrections for 20 years and it takes a special person to work behind the walls.
Thank you Sergeant Voth for making the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you for answering the call to put yourself on the line to keep others safe. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me." Isaiah 6:8.
