Reflections for Superintendent Hilary Baker

Supt. Baker,
Please forgive my previous reflection left for you where I got your End of Watch anniversary wrong. On today, the 225th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Philadelphia and our Country as well when you served with the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War fighting the British for our Nation's Independance.

Much like the peace officers of America in 2020/2021, who have continued to serve every day during COVID—many of them dying as a result of their duty to others—Superintendent Baker stayed at his post, and in doing so, gave his life to carry out his duties during an epidemic. Thank you for your service to your community, state, and country.

Superintendent Baker, on this 222nd anniversary of your untimely departure I’d like to reiterate the previous reflections left for you and say thank you. Your selfless acts and service to the Philadelphia community were a segue for the amazing police department that the Philadelphia Police is and for the amazing men and women who would go onto serve. Rest in peace always sir.
