Investigator Cecil Ridley was a man to learn from. I remember I had just told my dad how much I like working beside him because he was so old school. The criminals hated it, and him to be honest, but his old school ways got the job done. And he was great at it. Another man who taught others how to be great at the job. I was working with him that night. I was only a couple miles away and I can still hear the radio distress call clearly in my head. Or the pain I felt when the doctor came in and told us he didn't make it. We were literally laughing together 30 minutes earlier. Rest on sir. We got it from you. Love and miss you.

Cecil since that night i haven't been the same. I still wish things could've been different. Whether you had not come in the store to back me up or the suspect pulled his gun on me. I didn't have the heart to speak to your family at the funeral and i have yet to come visit your grave. But I've gained the courage and coming to visit you today brother. Thank you for everything. I pray that you're at peace and ask that you help me find peace also. 513 your memory lives on. I love you brother

Investigator Ridley, our world is filled with many evil people, and you knew that when you chose your profession. You lost your life in the process. This will not go unnoticed by our all-knowing, all-loving God, and He will reward you abundantly. May He immerse you and those you've left behind in His Divine Mercy. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

THE FINAL INSPECTION:
The Policeman stood and faced his God.
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining bright
Just as brightly as his brass
“Step forward now, Policeman,
How shall I deal with you?
Hove you always turned the other cheek?
To my word have you been true?”
The Policeman squared his shoulders and said
“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t
Because those of us who carry guns
Can’t always be a saint.
I’ve had to work most Sundays
And at times my talk was rough.
Because the world is awfully tough.
But I never took a thing
That wasn’t mine to keep…
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills just got to steep.
And I never passed a call for help.
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me.
I’ve wept unmanly tears.
I know I don’t deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much.
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.”
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints often trod
As the Policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.
“Step forward now Policeman,
You’ve born your burdens well,
Come walk a beet on heaven’s streets.
You’ve done your time in Hell.”
