Deputy Sheriff Sibert,
On today, the 75th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served as a U.S. Army Paratrooper in Europe fighting the Germans during World War II. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Today was a very special day in San Diego 7/11/24. I received a phone call in May this year by the homicide cold case Detectives to inform me my grandfather, Herbert Dean Sibert’s End Of Watch Induction ceremony will be on July 11th, 2024 (today). His picture will be in the main HQ’s building in San Diego. This Saturday, July 13th, 2024 will mark the 75th anniversary of his passing in 1949 as he was investigating a Robbery that occurred at the Beacon inn in Cardif, Ca. When traveling back, he rolled his vehicle down an embankment on North Torrey Pines road returning to his home. Jennifer Sibert and I, along with my Aunt Sharon (my dads sister) were in attendance today at San Diego Sheriff HQ. Very emotional day, I know my dad was in attendance watching from above. Special thanks to Detective Lisa Brannan from the cold case homicide division for keeping in contact with me and providing the best communication on details the past couple months. Also a special thank you to Sherrif Kelly Martinez for making this special recognition happen. Jennifer and I met so many great people today at the Sheriff’s Office and really felt the love from ALL. A true class act department and we left feeling part of the San Diego Sheriff’s Dept family. He was a true hero, serving his community and serving in WWII receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. #sandiegosheriff #EOW

To fully pay tribute to the heroes of today, we first need to remember those who came before them and who died in the line of duty for it is those heroes who were the standard bearers. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace
