Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Carlos Aaron Ramirez
Deputy Sheriff Ramirez,
On today, the 5th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army in Iraq. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. I live in El Paso close to Fort Bliss National Cemetery and remember attending your funeral.

All academy long he talked about how much he wanted to wear a nice Stetson hat while doing the job. Every trainee I have gets told about you, along with everyone who argues with me about moving over or slowing down for traffic stops. Gone too soon sir.

Rest in Peace Brother. I first meet Ramirez in 2015 in the TXARNG. We hit it off emedietly. He thought me a lot in my career. From what I knew of him he loved his wife and children, he always talked about them. He also was able to pursue his dream of becoming law enforcement, which he was very proud of. I only learned about this today which is 15 months later due to being away for duty. Best wishes to his family.

He was so young to have done so much with his life. It hits close because I know he walked through these very same doors. Went through the very same training. Spoke with these very same people.
Lord please guide and protect his soul as he guided and protected those in Kendall county. And Lord care for his children so that they may know the kind of man their father was.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
Abraham Lincoln

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:
“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”
I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.
Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.
I have lifted your family to God every morning for over eight years. I pray that Carlos' life and death will bring glory to His name.
Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.
