What an awful loss of life. I can hear her right now... So what do you want to be when you grow up? I’m sure her answer was... I want to help people, I want to be a Police Officer. Like so many of your Brothers and Sisters have answered. Thank you Officer O’Sullivan for the service to your Community and Country. Thank you to your family for giving Officer O’Sullivan to us. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, friends and co-workers during this tragic time. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Tara,
It comes with a heavy heart to be writing on your memorial wall. It's impossible to believe you are gone. I still remember you being eager to get out onto phase training and asking me all those questions about patrol life back in February during our course together. As a lateral, you made me feel welcomed to the Sacramento Police family. You served your department proudly and you can end your watch knowing your brothers and sisters will stand watch stronger than ever from here. We all love you and will forever miss your infectious smile you always had no matter what. Rest in peace Tara.

It is always a tragedy when an officer is killed in the line of duty, more so when we lose such a young officer with so much potential and promise that now will never be realized. I would like to express my deepest condolences to Officer Tara O’Sullivan’s family and to her law enforcement family at the Sacramento Police Department. The coming days will be difficult for you as you prepare to lie to rest a fallen comrade. May the God of your understanding bring you comfort during this difficult time.
