May God be with Officer Hetland. May we find some peace in knowing that he died doing the job that he loved. He died a true hero. He died protecting us (the general public). He stepped up when most people would have froze or panicked. He is gone now but he will NEVER be forgotten.

It is a sad time for the City of Racine Wisconsin, the Racine, WI Police Department, the family of Racine Police Officer John D. Hetland, and the entire State of Wisconsin as they mourn the loss of this brave police officer who was killed during a bank robbery. It will be a sad time for the entire city as they mourn the death of a police officer who was off duty at the time of the robbery. He will not be forgotten at all.
