Reflections for Detective Benjamin James Campbell

Lord God, our hearts and prayers go out to the Maine State Police and for the family, friends, and colleagues of Detective Ben Campbell, of the Maine State Police, who was killed in the Line-of-Duty on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Depart, dear Brother-in-Blue, out of this world into the arms of the Father who created you, into the arms of the Son who redeemed you, and into the arms of the Spirit who made you whole. “You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, and you have kept the faith” [2Timothy 4:7]. Now rest easy in peace. We will take it from here. Amen.

Scripture teaches us that:
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4]
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9]
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13]

I pray for Mrs. Campbell and her son during this most tragic time! My heart breaks for her as I struggle to make sense of this accident. 33 years in this business and I'm still shocked at what can happen.
I will keep Mrs. Campbell in my prayers and also Detective Campbell's fellow Troopers. May God give you all the grace and fortitude to endure this dark time!
We can not understand the reasoning for Detective Campbell's passing, but rest assured God is in control and his purposes are beyond our comprehension. May God's will be fulfilled and let his arms embrace Mrs. Campbell and her son with comfort and peace!
