Reflections for Lieutenant John Charles Rowland

John, I attended your street naming On August 24th. It was a beautiful day! So many old friends attended to celebrate your life! Reminisced our days in the NYTPD Pipe Band! God Bless John.

Happy 59th Birthday in Heaven John. You were such a bright light to everyone you came in contact with and you are sorely missed here on this earth. Saying prayers for your wife and children and all the people who's lives you touched that are surely missing you greatly.

Lord Jesus, as we watch our nation’s brave law enforcement officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the law enforcement officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

Uncle John;
There are countless things I wish I could bend your ear about if given the chance, or ask for advice and guidance in regards to so many different things that have happened or will happen. I think of you every day and carry myself with my pride to know I wear the same uniform you did; I can only hope to be as impactful as you were when you wore it. I will always share your story and legacy with the people I encounter and you will live on forever in our families’ hearts and minds. I love and miss you.

John, you were the most kind and caring person I ever had the pleasure of working alongside and befriending. You did great things for the NYC area and this country through your training of fellow first responders. I'll always remember you with a smile.

John,
Thinking of you today. Funny that I just realized that the day you passed was 29 years to the day we swore our oath and began our careers.
