Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Colleen A. McGowan

I was lucky enough to work with Colleen in the 10th Precinct in 1992. I was a Rookie Sgt and she was an experienced much loved Sgt there. She was very kind to me and was very helpful . She was an excellent Sgt who was compassionate and well respected as well as loved. I became a good friend and miss her very much.

Lord Jesus, as we watch our nation’s brave law enforcement officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the law enforcement officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

I met Colleen at the 4th of July Fireworks Display back in the late 80's on the Westside Hwy. We had a greet view. After a few seconds we realized we had the "Same" great Last name. She was a beautiful person and easy to speak to. RIP my fellow Officer and possible Cousin. Condolences to the McGowan Family.

Just realized recently that Colleen had passed away and was very saddened by the fact. Colleen and I were both Sergeants in the 10th Precinct and she was one of the best Sgts I ever met. I was a rookie Sgt and I will never forget her kindness to me, helpful and kind in every way.
Rest In Peace Colleen. You are deeply missed
