TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES OF CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT, POLICE OFFICER EDUARDO MARMOLEJO AND POLICE OFFICER CONRAD GARY.

My heart is filled with great sadness at learning of the lost of your loved ones and fellow Police Officers.
We in the law enforcement community are a family, although our uniforms may be a different style and vary in color,a badge, shield or star may be pinned upon our chest.
Our areas of enforcement may vary but our goals are the same, to Serve and Protect our communities. We consist of many different agencies from across the nation, for we are: Municipal Police Officers, Sheriff’s Deputies, State Police Investigators, State Highway Patrol Troopers, Conservation Police Officers, College Campus Police Officers, Correctional Officers and Federal Agents just to name a few.
We patrol small towns, large cities, college campuses, county roads, state highways, state prisons, county jails, state parks and the United States Borders. Whether active duty or retired, we are one family, a Law Enforcement Family, the thin blue line of protectors, brothers and sisters bonded together by HONOR, SERVICE and PRIDE. Daily we honor our fallen brothers and sisters never forgetting their sacrifice and the sacrifices of their families.
Daily our position is clear that we will Serve and Protect our communities without faltering and with no hesitation. Daily we show pride in our chosen profession LAW ENFORCEMENT, for we willingly walk the line of good over evil facing the unknown with courage keeping our trust and our faith in GOD.
We know that evil roam these streets and at any moment in the course of performing our duties the ultimate sacrifice might be required of us in the service to our community, for Law Enforcement Is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve for some will give all that they have.
ALL LIVES MATTER - LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS SHOULD BE RESPECTED - If we don’t respond to that call for help, or investigate that suspicious subject(s), or stop for that stranded motorist, or rush to that call of shots fired, then who will?
OFFICER MARMOLEJO and OFFICER GARY
Officers! You did not die in vain.
You sacrificed your lives in the service to the citizens of the City of Chicago in the State of Illinois with HONOR, PRIDE and DISTINCTION.
I’m proud to have worn the uniform of a law enforcement officer like the two of you.
I’m proud to have pinned the badge upon my chest like the two of you.
I’m proud to have Served and Protected my community as the two of you.
I’m proud to call you two my BROTHERS!
I commend my fallen brothers for making the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duties.
For they left us doing what they chose to do.
Performing a job they were trained to do.
Upholding the oath they swore to do.
Most importantly doing what they loved to do....................Serving and Protecting their community with Honor and Pride making a better and safer place for us all.
FOR THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR IT, “LIFE HAS A FLAVOR THE PROTECTED WILL NEVER KNOW.”
FINAL. CALL

May God watch over the family and fellow officers these heroes worked with. We can only imagine their pain. But we can sympathize with them and we must support them. Running to the danger when all others run away from it. Selfless and fearless to the end. They now work heavens Beat. And are in God's hands forever. Ever watching down on us all.

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whose blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

AVENUE OF THE FALLEN…

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms,
badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement.
All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home…

This inspiring poem was written by Jim Weaver, a retired LAPD Officer and former Idaho Sheriff. It is submitted with his full support and approval. We feel ceremonies such as this actually occur in the Heavenly Realm. We can all gain a glimpse at… ImagineHeaven.net …with the faith building book by Pastor John Burke, and his NDE interviews with credible individuals granted such Near Death Experiences. Both my Pastor and Family Doctors feel many such instances are fully valid. Indeed, “Do nor fear…for it is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:32). May the Family, Friends and Department be comforted as Magnificent Reunions truly await all Christians!
