My heart felt feelings and prayers to the Helus Family. I am not a law enforcement officer, however my sister has been for over 30 years - Our family has been in this position back in 2003.
I have never met Ron Helus but I bet he's a man's man.... period..... his killer is a coward ..... period ......
To all the Great People in Law Enforcement, Thank You

I am so very sorry for the loss of this great man. I am not an officer but I believe that Sgt. Helus knew with almost 100% certainly that he would injured severely and probably killed by running inside to confront this very troubled young man. He did so without a second of hesitation. That, to me, is totally the true meaning of courage and valor. He was most definitely a Hero. I will remember this man and think of him as well as his family and brothers in blue.

It will be a very sad Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's as Ventura County Sheriff's Sergeant Ron Helus was shot and killed as of last night by a disturbed individual who took his and several other lives at a night club in Ventura County California. It will be a tough holiday season as a family and a sheriff's department mourn the loss of this officer who went in and tried to stop another mass shooting that was taking place. He will not be forgotten at all. As of next year, his name will join other law enforcement officers who were killed in California and around the United States on the monuments for fallen law enforcement officers in both Sacramento and Washington.

You laid down your life for others. Rest in peace. You accomplished your mission, the threat was neutralized. You saved lives and your actions also changed lives. Thank you. My prayers are with your family. I grieve for them. All their fears became reality last night. But there are about 200 families who thank you that you saved their loved ones.
