Reflections for Special Agent Bert Wootan
Rest in peace knowing that no passage of time will ever erase your service and sacrifice.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 104th anniversary year of your death. I am privileged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Agent Wootan, first and foremost, thank you for helping to protect one of America's greatest assets, it's railroads. Secondly, for some vile, despicable scum to turn a simple trespass into murder makes one shudder. This sub-human, I am confident, faced true justice for his crimes, if not in this world, then in the next.
Thirdly, this is not a surprising act in that, so many of America's Law Enforcement community is not seen as 'real' and hence, the murder of said member is not as big a deal as if killing a 'real' cop. I'm sure that that was a factor, though speculation on my part is meaningless.
You are a hero, Agent Wootan in that, knowing the risks, being totally outnumbered, you went ahead and did what you needed to do. I find it sad that it cost you your life and the Law Enforcement community as a whole, a brave soul.
I pray that those who felt your loss greatest passed on to subsequent generations, your memory and have kept you in their hearts and minds. I pray that this amazing site is not the only place your memory is kept alive.
