Sgt. Chesna,
On today, the 2nd anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army as a member of the 10th Mountain Division in Iraq and Afghanistan. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. I’m originally from the South Shore and lived two towns over from Weymouth and this hits home for me.

"My love, you are strong and you will do well in life. I love you and my children deeply. Today and tomorrow, let each day grow and grow. Keep smiling and never give up, even when things get you down. So, in closing, my love...tonight, tuck my children in bed warmly. Tell them I love them. Then hug them for me...and give them both a kiss good night for Daddy."

I hope that everyone can find comfort in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we see him again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

Mike, Thank you so much for your service to the greatest country in the world, allowing all of us to be able to have the freedom that was granted from your service. The citizens of Weymouth were also very blessed to have had 6 years of your service to their community. It was such an unthinkable act that led to you making the ultimate sacrifice but from the bottom of my heart, THANKS BROTHER!!! May GOD bless you and your family members left behind that are dearly grieving your loss. You will be missed but NOT forgotten.

Mike, I am so, so sorry. I promise to do whatever I can to keep your memory alive and ensure your sacrifice is never forgotten by the people of Weymouth. Part of you will always live on in those whose lives you have touched, like mine. That part of you living on in us is what gives us the desire to help care for your loved ones, and when we do so, they will know it’s you reaching out to hold them. Your loss has reawakened my desire to serve and be a force for good. I am praying, and will continue to pray, for you, your family, your friends and your fellow officers.

All he wanted to do was to become a police officer back home when he left the service. His never quit attitude carried him far in everything he did. A love for basketball and gym time. I'm proud to have been a Cobra brother in arms and as a fellow holder of the thin blue line. Rest Easy, brother. 'Til Valhalla

Please excuse the unintentional error on my previous reflection. It should have read as follows. On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Michael was killed in the line of duty.

To the Chesna family, fellow officers, and all who call Michael beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Sgt. Chesna gave to his community and the citizens of Massachusetts and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 15th, 2018.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over seven years. I pray that Michael's life and death will bring glory to God.

Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.
