You taught me so much about the job. To be honest I'm surprised you didn't have an attack when you were training me as a rookie. You were always patient with every new officer, but always held us to a high standard. I couldn't ask for a better Sergeant or a better friend. I will miss you on every stop and every call. Love you brother, till we meet again.

Avenue of Fallen
Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price. Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

A Prayer for Sergeant Kent Swanson:
Lord God, I boldly and humbly come before Your throne in sincere faithful and fervent prayer as we remember in this moment our Brother-in-Blue, Sergeant Kent Swanson, of the Shelley, Idaho Police Department, who sacrificed his life in the Line-of-Duty. We recall with gratitude and respect all that he stood for in this life. Help us to live in the companionship of his spirit. May we be kind to the family, friends, and colleagues he loved; devoted to the community and state in which he served; and loyal to the causes which he championed in law enforcement. For the Scripture says: God blesses those who work for peace for they will be called the children of God ; there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends; I [Jesus] assure you, today you will be with me in Paradise, and; God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Thus, in our life, may Sergeant Kent Swanson live on, to our great comfort, to the betterment of Your creation, and to the furthering of Your most Holy Will. Amen
We have your patrol from here, Sergeant Kent Swanson. Rest easy, our Brother-in-Blue, you are now in the hands of the Lord God.
