Elmer Arthur Trout was my grandfather. Sadly, I never knew him as my mother was only 3 when he passed away. She was the 3rd oldest of the 4 children, one boy followed by 3 girls. Many years (about 25) ago I tried to get him added to the Police Officers Memorial in Washington, DC but was told that he did not qualify, because the cause of death listed was Diphtheria. Even though the newspaper articles written at that time stated he would not have gotten so sick, had he not be beaten down so much during that attack. I am so glad to see that at least the people of Pueblo, CO recognize that he is a hero. Thank You.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 83rd anniversary year of your death. I am privileged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
