Reflections for Police Officer Rogelio Santander, Jr.

Hey brother,

Today makes 5 years since you gained your angel wings. Everyday, I look at this blue and yellow ribbon they gave us to wear at your homegoing service, reminding me of you. We'll never forget your jokes, your smile, but most importantly, your dedication and service to the citizens of Dallas. Continue to watch over us and keep us safe.

Rest well brother. We miss you.

I will always remember when you volunteered to help me out with our DT final in the academy. I will never forget that day, or the continuous smile you always had. Thank you Rogelio.

Officer Santander, "Have A Drink On Me....." My Mama cooks the best sweet tea in all of Texas." Will ya hold her hand and watch Andy Griffith with her for me? One last thing Mr Rodg its a lil darker down here with one less Cowboy. But The sky sure is bright. You are one of God's Brightest Stars! Shinedown On Dallas Brother!

I wish their was a way that I could trade boot prints with the next cop that loses his life on duty. Too many families stare at a empty cereal bowl.

Thank you for your service and please know that your sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren. Rest in peace always.

It hasn’t even been a year yet but it’s coming up so soon. God has helped me work through everything that happened to you but it still hurts and it hits me like a ton of bricks. I’m doing everything I can and going to be who I can be for you. You were my role model growing up. I miss you

I hope that everyone can find comfort in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we see him again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

All gave some and some gave all. Hero and soldier of the street. I'm shedding tears, reading how you were shot while trying to take a dangerous man into custody. You were trying to help your fellow officers, and take a dangerous man off of the street. May you rest in peace. Thank you for your service.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray Psalm 91 over all LEO’s and this prayer also:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I know that God sends those angels to watch over our officers, sometimes to protect them and sometimes to whisk our officers into His presence.

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over six years. I pray that Rogelio's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Trust those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

Rest in Peace, Officer Santander. You've made us proud. John 5:13 says, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." In this day and age, being a law enforcement officer is a tough job. The media makes police officers out to be villains. In reality, you are unappreciated, doing the unthinkable for the ungrateful. I'm here to say that those voices don't speak for the rest of us. We appreciate you, defend you, and support you for protecting our lives and keeping the peace. We are forever indebted to your sacrifice. One day I will fill your shoes and make you proud. You make us proud, brother. God bless.

Santander was a good Officer. He was kind of Officer any supervisor would love to have. He came to work on time and ready to give 110% everyday. It’s so sad that his life was cut short by a coward. I was Santander supervisor and it was honor to have known him.
