Members of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police understand this pain. Our staff asks that everyone offer condolences and share this link. The Morelli, Joering and our Police families received love and support from all over the world when Tony and Eric were killed in the line of duty. That provided strength during that tragic time.
We ask that everyone send that same level of love and support to the immediate family of Reserve Officer Christopher Lawton and the extended law enforcement family of the Zachary Police Department, Louisiana.
End of Watch Monday, March 12, 2018.
Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your memory.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Officer Lawton, your service to your community is outstanding and something for you and your family to be especially proud of. How tragic and incredibly wrong it is that that service was cut short in such a savage way. We mourn you and pray for all who feel that loss directly.

Rest in peace brother, we have the watch now. Thank you for your service, you have served well. I applaud you for your willingness to serve your community as a reserve officer. I started my law enforcement career as a reserve deputy and my knowledge gained during those years has been invaluable to me as a full time officer and deputy. Your bravery to serve without pay is about as honorable as you can get. Thank you again. God bless the family, friends, and co-workers of Officer Lawton during this time of tragic and senseless loss.
