Since the start of 2018 I decided that I wanted to write a hand-written note to each family/department of a fallen officer. I would write it as chaplain but represent my whole department, the Boone County Sheriff's Office in Indiana. I never imagined that I would be writing one for one of our own. It breaks my heart to write these notes for any reason, but to write one for Jake- that's so very hard. To any of our guys that read this or to Jen- I am continually lifting you all up in prayer. I pray that Jesus will carry you. I pray that the all seeing God will guide you in this dark, so dark you can't see, place you find yourself in. I saw his squad car at the station today. So covered with cards, flowers, and gifts- you can hardly see it. Even bags of dog food for Brik. I just cried when I saw that- so touching. Matthew 5:4

Sheriff Pickett, I pray for the repose of your soul and for comfort and consolation for your wife and two children. This must be the most difficult time for them, but hopefully, not for your soul, as it finds eternal peace in the arms of our Lord. May He immerse you and your family in His Divine Mercy.

Members of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police understand this pain. To honor Officers Tony Morelli and Eric Joering, our staff asks that everyone offer condolences and share this link. The Morelli, Joering and our Police families received love and support from all over the world when Tony and Eric were killed in the line of duty. That provided strength during that tragic time.
We ask that everyone send that same level of love and support to the immediate family of Deputy Sheriff Jacob Pickett and the extended law enforcement family of the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Indiana.
End of Watch Sunday, March 4, 2018.
Rest in Peace brother and watch over us. We will protect and serve from here on in your memory.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
