32 years on the job and still chasing down the worst criminals on the street. Not riding a desk still on the street attempting to do the right thing. Today, the CPD lost one of its finest and bravest trying to make an arrest of a felon with a gun. Cmdr. Bauer bravely died serving the city and the people that he loved. He done what many police officers do everyday. He placed his life on the line knowing that other officers were in danger and needed assistance. May God welcome this brave police officer into heaven and forever watch over his family. RIP

A Prayer for Commander Paul Bauer:

Lord God, I boldly and humbly come before Your throne in sincere faithful and fervent prayer as we remember in this moment our Brother-in-Blue, Commander Paul Bauer, of the Chicago, Illinois Police Department, who sacrificed his life in the Line-of-Duty. We recall with gratitude and respect all that he stood for in this life. Help us to live in the companionship of his spirit. May we be kind to the family, friends, and colleagues he loved; devoted to the community and state in which he served; and loyal to the causes which he championed in law enforcement. For Scripture says: God blesses those who work for peace for they will be called the children of God ; there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends; I [Jesus] assure you, today you will be with me in paradise, and; God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Thus, in our life, may Commander Paul Bauer live on, to our great comfort, to the betterment of Your creation, and to the furthering of Your most Holy Will. Amen.
