Avenue of Fallen
Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price. Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.

A Prayer for Police Officer David Sherrard:

Lord God, I boldly and humbly come before Your throne in sincere faithful and fervent prayer as we remember in this moment our Brother-in-Blue, Police Officer David Sherrard, of the Richardson, Texas Police Department, who sacrificed his life in the Line-of-Duty. We recall with gratitude and respect all that he stood for in this life. Help us to live in the companionship of his spirit. May we be kind to the family, friends, and colleagues he loved; devoted to the community and state in which he served; and loyal to the causes which he championed in law enforcement. For Scripture says: God blesses those who work for peace for they will be called the children of God ; there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends; I [Jesus] assure you, today you will be with me in paradise, and; God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Thus, in our life, may Police Officer David Sherrard live on, to our great comfort, to the betterment of Your creation, and to the furthering of Your most Holy Will. Amen.
